It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Josephine L. King, who left this world peacefully on August 13, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on May 18, 1963, in Newnan, Georgia, Josephine was a beacon of love, generosity, and kindness, whose presence touched the lives of all who knew her.
Josephine dedicated 33 years of her life to the Alabama school system, where she nurtured and inspired countless young minds. Her commitment to education was only surpassed by her unwavering love for her family and community. Known for her compassionate nature, Josephine was always ready to extend a helping hand, often giving her last to support someone in need.
Family was the cornerstone of Josephine's life. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, finding joy in fishing and fun family gatherings. Her devotion to her family was evident in every action she took and every word she spoke. Josephine's love was a guiding force for her children, Clifton (CJ) Terrell and Jasmine (Jazz) Terrell, as well as her treasured grandchildren, Taylor Carnes and Brandon Carnes.
Josephine was the beloved daughter of the late Marcus and Eula King and was predeceased by her brother, Ed King. She leaves behind a vast and loving family, including her siblings Katherine Thompson, Jannie Dix, Marcus King, Hattie King, Evelyn Terrell, Margaret Hall, Annie Marie Underwood, Armer Underwood, and Sadie McCoy. Her legacy of kindness continues through her many nieces and nephews, including Sherrell Mackall, Sherrita Dix, Stefanie Thompson, Courtney Thompson, Dara Cooper, and Ameshia Dix.
A service to celebrate Josephine's life will be held on August 20, 2026, at 2:30 PM at Taylor Funeral Home, located at 1514 5th Ave, Phenix City, AL 36867. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Josephine are invited to attend and honor her remarkable life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Josephine's memory to an organization close to her heart.
Josephine L. King will be remembered for her boundless love, her selflessness, and her unwavering commitment to her family and community. Her spirit lives on in the lives she touched and the memories she left behind. She will be dearly missed but will forever remain in our hearts.
