Joseph Wiggs

December 7, 1953 — October 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Wiggs, a beloved brother, and cherished member of his community, who departed from us on October 16, 2026. Born on December 7, 1953, in the quaint town of Midville, Georgia, Joseph was the son of Wallace Wiggs and Mary Stephens Wiggs. Throughout his life, Joseph exemplified resilience, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community. Joseph was preceded in death by his brothers, Isiah, Roy Sr., Henry, and Robert Wiggs. Their memories were a guiding light throughout his life, and he cherished the moments they all shared together. He is survived by his devoted siblings: Walter Wiggs, Nathaniel Wiggs, Mary Wiggs Thomas, and Geneva Wiggs Gillespie. Joseph shared a deep and abiding bond with each of them, and their love for him remains profound and everlasting. For 45 years, Joseph was a dedicated member of the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities Center. His commitment and empathy toward those he worked with were evident in everything he did. Joseph's gentle spirit and warm smile left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered, fostering an environment of care and understanding. Though Joseph had no great-grandchildren, his family roots ran deep, and he has been a beloved uncle, brother, and friend to many. His legacy of love, laughter, and compassion lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. A service to honor and celebrate Joseph's life will be held on October 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Gregory B Levett & Sons Funeral Home, located at 4347 Flat Shoals Parkway, Decatur, GA 30032. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gregory B Levett for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Joseph's memory to an organization close to his heart. The family expresses their deep appreciation for the love, support, and kindness extended to them during this time of mourning. Joseph Wiggs will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever remain a beacon of love and strength. May he rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
