November 10, 1941 — March 29, 2026

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Joseph Tigilau, who left this world on March 29, 2026. Joseph passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the warmth and love of his family, after a courageous battle with illness. He was 66 years old. Joseph was born on November 10, 1959, in the beautiful island nation of Samoa, to his beloved parents, Alema and Fiki. From a young age, Joseph embodied the rich traditions and vibrant spirit of his homeland, carrying these cherished values with him wherever life took him. As a devoted husband, Joseph shared a profound and enduring love with his wife, Lagi. Their marriage was a testament to strength, partnership, and unwavering devotion. Together, they nurtured a family rooted in love and respect, and these values were evident in every aspect of Joseph's life. Joseph was a proud and loving father to his son, Rome, and daughter, Beca. He instilled in them the importance of integrity, kindness, and the power of perseverance. His guidance and love were the cornerstones of their upbringing, and his legacy will continue to shine brightly through them. Joseph was also the grandfather of two cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. Their laughter and innocence filled his days with happiness, and he relished every moment spent in their company, sharing stories and creating memories that will endure for generations. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Pago, with whom he shared a bond that transcended time and distance. Joseph spoke fondly of their shared childhood adventures and the enduring brotherly love that sustained him throughout his life. Joseph's life was a testament to resilience and grace. He possessed an unyielding spirit and a gentle heart, always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word. His presence was a source of comfort and strength to those around him, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who were blessed to know him. A service to celebrate Joseph's life will be held on April 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Long Beach Christian Fellowship, located at 3210 E Airport Way, Long Beach, CA 90806. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived, to honor Joseph's memory, and to find solace in shared stories and the warmth of community. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Joseph's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of generosity and his commitment to making the world a better place. As we say farewell to a remarkable man, let us remember Joseph Tigilau not only for the life he lived but for the love he gave. His legacy will forever be etched in our hearts, and his spirit will continue to watch over us, guiding us with the same love and wisdom he shared during his lifetime. May he rest in peace, embraced by the eternal love he so freely gave to others.
