February 23, 1947 – June 9, 2026 With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Joseph Michael Beckwith, who left this world peacefully on June 9, 2026, at the age of 79. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Joe's remarkable journey began on February 23, 1947, as the beloved son of Paul and Mary Beckwith. Joe was a graduate of Bishop Ready High School, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work, integrity, and kindness. Furthering his education at Ohio State and Franklin University, Joe embraced learning and personal growth, traits that would define his professional and personal endeavors. In 1969, Joe embarked on a long and fulfilling career with McDonald's, where he worked diligently until his retirement in 2004. His tenure there was marked not only by his commitment to excellence but by the deep friendships he formed with colleagues who became like family. On June 2, 1973, Joe married the love of his life, MaryAnn Beckwith. Together, they shared 53 years of unwavering love and happiness, a partnership that served as a beacon of strength and devotion to those who knew them. Their marriage was blessed with three cherished daughters: Jennae Beckwith-Brittain, Chelsea Beckwith-Cordell, and Judi Beckwith. Joe was a devoted father and father-in-law, welcoming Robert Brittain and Jeffrey Cordell into his family with open arms. His joy was magnified by his role as a grandfather to five wonderful grandchildren: Corinne Cordell, Izzy Cordell, Sawyer Cordell, Aidan Brittain, and Kylan Brittain. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them, imparting wisdom, humor, and love. A lover of the outdoors, Joe found peace and enjoyment on the golf course. The game provided him not just with leisure, but with lessons in patience and resilience, traits he exhibited throughout his life. Joe was preceded in death by his beloved brother, James Beckwith, with whom he shared many joyous memories. His legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of his surviving family members and friends who had the privilege of knowing him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent DePaul, an organization close to Joe's heart, reflecting his lifelong commitment to helping others. In accordance with Joe's wishes, a private funeral mass at St Bernardof Clairvauv, honoring the profound impact he had on those around him. As we bid farewell to Joe, we do so with gratitude for the time we shared and the love that will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing he was deeply loved and that his legacy of kindness, love, and devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
