Joseph Lee Standifer

December 26, 1942 — June 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joseph Lee Standifer, who left this world peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on June 16, 2026. Joseph, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on December 26, 1942, in Smithville, Mississippi, to Bonnie and Glady Standifer. Joseph's life was a testament to dedication, love, and faith. Drafted by the Army, he served his country with honor and integrity. Following his military service, Joseph dedicated 25 years of his career to the BN Railroad, where he was known for his unwavering work ethic and camaraderie with his colleagues. Joseph's spiritual journey was a cornerstone of his life. He confessed Christ at an early age at Spruell Chapel United Methodist Church and later became an integral part of the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ, where he faithfully served for 24 years. His roles as head Deacon, Trustee Board member, and Superintendent of Sunday School allowed him to touch countless lives with his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering faith. Beyond his professional and spiritual commitments, Joseph found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved tending to his yard, a sanctuary where he found peace and reflection. His greatest joy, however, came from sharing meals and moments with Linda Louise Standifer, his beloved wife of 27 years, whose companionship was a beacon of love and strength. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and Glady Standifer; his sisters, Lola Avery, Lula Mae Standifer, Louise Standifer, Herbine Marsh; his brother, Fred Standifer; and his son, Shawn Standifer. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Louise Standifer; his son, Michael (Annie) Standifer; his daughters, Camley Wilson and Portia (Nathan) Hester; his brother, Rome Barnes; and one cherished grandchild, whose presence brought him immeasurable joy. The legacy of Joseph Lee Standifer is one of love, faith, and dedication—a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of Joseph's life will be held on June 27, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Amory, Mississippi. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many. In this time of sorrow, we find comfort in the memories and love Joseph shared with us all. His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love of family and the grace of God.
