Joseph Plemons

August 15, 1932 — October 19, 2026

Joseph Plemons, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on October 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Joseph was born on August 15, 1932, in Crawford, Texas, to Joseph and Jenny Plemons, who instilled in him the values of kindness, humility, and love that he carried throughout his life. Joseph, fondly known as Joe, was predeceased by his first wife, Winnie; his cherished daughter, Mary Irene; his best friend, Father Mark; his brother, Bill; and many dear friends who now welcome him with open arms. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. His legacy lives on through his loving children, Bill, Sis, Pat, Anne, and Kate, as well as his bonus daughters, Lynn and Tracy. Joe was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Iliana, Rachel, Joey, Mady, Lynsie, Josh, Ryan, and Emily, and found joy in his great-grandchildren, Amelia, Nicky, Miles, Donatello, and Marselyn. Joe's life was enriched by his passions and hobbies that brought him closer to nature and family. He was an avid fly fisherman and cherished the serenity of hiking and camping in the Sierra mountain range in California. Known for organizing groups of mountain adventurers, Joe led many on week-long trips to a beloved spot seven miles from the pack station. His love for the outdoors was paralleled by his creative spirit; he delighted in drafting plans for his children’s home remodels and spent many peaceful hours on the beautiful deck he built in his Allyn home, gazing upon the evergreens and the majestic Mt. Rainier. Music was another profound love in Joe's life. A talented guitarist, he enjoyed playing and singing country and church songs, eventually crafting his own melodies and sharing them with the world through recordings. His song "To The Left of the Tree," inspired by family trips to the Sierras, stands as a testament to his heartfelt connection with both music and nature. A voracious reader, Joe could devour ten library books in just a couple of weeks, always eager to explore new stories and ideas. His gentle nature and peaceful presence made him a storyteller at heart, known for his ability to stoke fires and evoke laughter with just a few words. Joe’s humility was evident in his modest demeanor, often portraying himself as having “no clue” and always choosing the least comfortable seat, placing others before himself. The family expresses deep gratitude to the hospice nurses and staff for their compassionate care during Joe's final days. In lieu of flowers, they suggest donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Joe’s altruistic spirit. Though Joe has departed from this world, his enduring legacy of love, kindness, and humility will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family of Joseph Plemons welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
