JOSEPH "JOE" WILLIAM SCHARBA
September 3, 1967 — March 27, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Joseph "Joe" William Scharba, who departed this world on March 27, 2026, at LifePath Hospice House in Sun City Center. Born on September 3, 1967, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Joe was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and steadfast friend whose legacy will continue to illuminate the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Joe was the cherished son of the late Judith E. Dixon and Gerald G. Scharba, and he is now reunited with his parents and his beloved brothers, Gerald Scharba II and James (Jim) Scharba. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jeanette Scharba, whom he married in Ruskin, FL, in 1985, and who stood by his side with unwavering love and support. Together, they raised a son, Kevin Scharba, who was the light of Joe's life.
Joe's family extended beyond immediate ties, embracing sisters-in-law Jule (Benjamin) Whitted and Bonnie Alday; nieces Jackie (Jeremy) Hansel, Angel Alday, and Krystal Alday; nephews Thomas Gardyjan and William (Kristyn) Porter III; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, including Madyson Woodall, Samantha Stacy, Lexi Lou Swartzwelder, Nevaeh Porter, Abigail, Daniel Woodall, Joshua Alday, Nathan Stacy, and William "Dallas" Porter. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he was theirs—a constant source of joy, laughter, and guidance.
After graduating from East Bay High School, Joe pursued his passion for speed and adventure by driving race cars at East Bay Raceway during his younger years. His career saw him don multiple hats—most notably as a manager at Pizza Hut and as a skilled mechanic specializing in transmissions and engine replacements. Joe's hands were never idle, and his work ethic was matched only by his dedication to those he served.
Joe was a man of simple pleasures and grand gestures. He found solace and excitement in the great outdoors, where he would often be found with a fishing rod in hand, reveling in the serenity of the water. Boats and fishing were his passion, and he spent countless hours sharing this love with friends and family. His loyal German Shepherds were his constant companions on these adventures, embodying the loyalty and love that defined Joe’s relationships with those around him.
Known for his infectious sense of humor and ability to brighten any room, Joe’s presence was a warm embrace to all who encountered him. His love for his family, friends, and the outdoors was evident in every facet of his life, and his spirit could leave you speechless with a mere twinkle in his eye or a well-timed joke.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff, home care and hospice workers, and caregivers who provided such compassionate care during Joe's final weeks, ensuring his comfort and dignity.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Joe's remarkable life. His memory will forever dwell in the hearts of those he touched, a testament to a life beautifully lived and deeply loved.
Though we mourn his passing, we find solace in the legacy of love, laughter, and light that Joe leaves behind. May he rest in peace, forever sailing the tranquil waters he so dearly cherished.
