Joseph Elmer Peterson

October 7, 1932 — June 8, 2026

Joseph Elmer Peterson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on October 7, 1932, in the small, close-knit community of Willow Township, Joseph lived a life rich with love, service, and adventure. Joseph was the cherished son of Elmer and Nora Peterson, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and integrity from a young age. He carried these values throughout his life, touching the hearts of everyone he met with his warmth and generosity. In 1951, Joseph graduated from Corwith High School, ready to embark on new adventures. He answered the call to serve his country and joined the US Army during the Korean conflict. Stationed in Alaska in 1953, he contributed to the safety and security of our nation. Following his military service, Joseph embarked on a long and rewarding career as an electrical engineer with AT&T, where he worked diligently for 35 years. Not one to slow down after retirement, he continued to share his skills and warm spirit with others for another 20 years at Walmart. On February 7, 1957, Joseph married the love of his life, Beverly A. Means. Together, they built a beautiful life over 69 years of marriage, raising four wonderful children: Robin Stevens, Pam Lampe, Tony Peterson, and Tim Peterson. Their love and partnership were a testament to their commitment to each other. Joseph's family was a great source of joy, and he was blessed with five grandchildren: Holly Lewieke, AJ Lewieke, Kendal Peterson, Tommy Peterson, and Joey Peterson, and two great-grandchildren. A man of many talents and interests, Joseph found great joy in the outdoors. He loved hiking, fishing, and camping, finding peace and inspiration in nature. His hands were never idle, as he enjoyed woodworking and metalwork. Later in life, he developed a passion for photography and became an avid golfer, always eager to learn and experience new things. Joseph was known for his pleasant demeanor and positive outlook on life. He never had a negative word to say about anyone, always choosing to see the good in others. His warm smile and gentle nature made him well-liked by all who were fortunate enough to know him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Joseph's life and legacy. Joseph Elmer Peterson will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and his memory will be cherished forever.
