Joseph Christopher (JC) Westby-Gibson
April 5, 1972 — September 28, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph Christopher (JC) Westby-Gibson, who departed this world on September 28, 2026. Born on April 5, 1972, in Jacksonville, Florida, JC was a beloved son, brother, fiancé, father, and friend.
JC spent his early years in Jacksonville, where he was raised by his devoted parents, Peter B. (Hoot) and Karen S. (Fi) Westby-Gibson. His vibrant personality and remarkable intellect became evident from a young age, traits that he carried with him throughout his life.
A proud alumnus of the University of Southern Maine, JC graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 2009. His dedication to his studies was only surpassed by his commitment to his country. JC served honorably in the United States Navy, earning multiple commendations for his service.
In his professional life, JC was known as a results-oriented engineer with a keen expertise in system development life cycle and testing. His career path led him to work with notable organizations such as Jefferson Lab and the Department of Homeland Security, among others. His contributions to these fields were invaluable, and his colleagues remember him as a brilliant mind and a dedicated professional.
JC’s personal life was equally fulfilling. His fiancé, Lisa Bimler, was the love of his life, and together they shared countless cherished moments, especially those lounging on the beach. His love extended to his children, Quin and Piper, who were his pride and joy, and to his siblings, Heidi and Timothy, with whom he shared a lifelong bond. JC was a man of many interests, from playing golf with his brother (albeit not always successfully), to cooking delicious meals on the grill, to his passion for building and fixing anything he could. His love for animals and children was well-known, as was his quick wit and sharp humor, which endeared him to friends from all walks of life.
JC's outgoing nature and willingness to lend a hand made him an irreplaceable presence in the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
A celebration of JC’s life will be held on October 24, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Marlbank Cove Clubhouse, located at 111 Lookout Point, Yorktown, VA 23692. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in JC’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization close to his heart.
JC will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. May he rest in peace, knowing he made the world a better place simply by being in it.
