May 5, 1943 — July 2, 2026

Joseph Carr, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and community member, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima, Ohio. Born on May 5, 1943, in Lima, Ohio, to Harold L. and Martha H. (Slentz) Carr, Joe's life was marked by devotion to his family, faith, and community. He was 83 years old at the time of his passing. Joseph was a proud alumnus of Spencerville High School, graduating in 1961. An accomplished athlete, Joe shone brightly as a three-sport athlete, distinguishing himself as a standout pitcher. He played a pivotal role on the 1959 state runner-up baseball team and was even considered a professional prospect—a testament to his talent and dedication. On May 12, 1963, Joe married his high school sweetheart, Linda Ewing. Their love story was a beautiful chapter that spanned several decades until Linda's passing. Together, they built a loving family and created a home filled with warmth and laughter. Joe dedicated 34 years of his professional life to the Ford Motor Company, where he was known for his hard work and unwavering commitment. His career also reflected his deep spiritual convictions. While working at Ford, Joe attended Rhema Bible College, graduating in 1984, and remained an ordained minister for the rest of his life. As a long-time member of Only Believe Ministries in Botkins, Joe's faith was a guiding light that touched many lives. Joseph is survived by his three children, Chris Carr of Spencerville, Kevin Carr of Shawnee, and Corey (Nicole Cook) Carr of Spencerville. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren and the great-grandfather to nine, with a tenth great-grandchild on the way. Joe's legacy of love and kindness will endure through them. Preceding Joe in death are his beloved wife, Linda, and his brothers, Robert and Earl Carr. His passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but his memory and spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. A service to honor Joseph's life will be held on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Joseph Church, located at 312 S Bridgewater St. Family and friends are invited to celebrate a life well-lived and to share memories of Joe's remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting Joe's generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Joseph Carr's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and dedication. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
