In Loving Memory of Joseph Bowman
Joseph Bowman, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on the early morning of July 15, 2026, at the age of 77, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on September 9, 1948, in Madisonville, Kentucky, Joseph was the cherished son of Frank and Meredith Bowman.
Throughout his life, Joseph embodied kindness, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 40 years, Kathy Bowman, who was his steadfast companion and the love of his life. Together, they shared a beautiful journey filled with love and resilience, raising four wonderful children—Derek, Donna, Chad, and Tanya—who brought great joy and pride to his life.
Joseph was also preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Bowman Jr. and Cheryl Cottoner, and his children, Chad Bowman, Derek Bowman, Donna Bowman, and Tanya Bowman, who are all remembered for their unique qualities and contributions to their family and community.
Joseph's legacy continues through his surviving children, Derek, Donna, Chad, and Tanya, who carry forward his values of compassion and integrity. He was a devoted grandfather to five grandchildren, Nathan Bowman, Whitney Bowman, Jenna Higgs, Justin Miller, and William Bowman. and a doting great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart. His love and guidance will forever influence their lives.
Known for his warm spirit and gentle humor, Joseph had a gift for connecting with people. Whether sharing stories from his youth in Madisonville or offering a listening ear, he made everyone feel valued and heard. His love for music and the arts was a source of inspiration for many, and his joy in these pursuits was infectious.
Joseph's family will honor his life with a service on July 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM, held at Canaan Christian Church, located at 2840 Hikes Lane, Louisville, KY 40218. Friends and family are invited to join in celebration of a life well-lived, to share memories, and to find comfort in the love that Joseph so freely gave.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, in honor of Joseph's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Joseph Bowman leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and kindness. He will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him, yet his spirit will remain forever in our hearts.
