In Loving Memory
Joseph Albert Legris
December 5, 1953 — March 17, 2026
It is with profound sadness and yet a celebration of a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Joseph Albert Legris, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Joseph left this world peacefully at his home on March 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.
Born on December 5, 1953, in Kankakee, Illinois, Joseph was the cherished son of the late Paul and Rita Legris. His early years were spent in the heart of Illinois, where he began to cultivate the warmth and humor that would endear him to everyone he met. Joseph graduated from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School (BBCHS) in 1972, where he first displayed his love for learning and storytelling.
A true entrepreneur at heart, Joseph ran his own company for roughly 40 years, providing service and repair for cigarette and keno machines, as well as jukeboxes, in Whitefish, Montana, and the surrounding areas. His dedication and expertise in his field were well-known, and his clients frequently became lifelong friends.
Joseph's passions extended far beyond his work. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, activities he loved more than most, and he was among the best storytellers one could meet. His tales, rich with humor and warmth, could light up a room and turn strangers into friends with ease. Joseph had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome—as though he'd known them all his life—and that gift will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Rita Legris, and his brother, Rick Legris. Joseph is survived by a loving family who will continue to cherish his memory: his son, Joe (Tiffany) Drazy; daughters, Aimee Legris and Lisa (Seth) MacAllister; his sister, Toni (Tim) Keegan; brother, Paul (Kathy) Legris; and sister, Mary (Todd) Brandehoff. Joseph was also a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of laughter and love.
While there will be no services at this time, a Celebration of Life is being planned at the Bradley American Legion, per Joseph's wishes. His family looks forward to gathering with friends and loved ones to honor the vibrant life that Joseph led.
As we remember Joseph, we hold onto the witty remarks, the countless stories, and the genuine connections he fostered throughout his life. In his memory, may we all strive to make others feel as welcome and cherished as he did.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Joseph’s memory are encouraged to share a story, lend a hand, or simply offer a smile to someone who needs it. His spirit will live on through these acts of kindness.
