Jose Rodriguez Kropf

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jose Rodriguez Kropf on August 15, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness, at the hospital surrounded by family. Born on April 7, 1943, in Jalisco, Mexico, Jose lived a life full of love, service, and dedication to his family, country, and community. Jose was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Teresa Kropf and was predeceased by his dear brother, Khol Kropf. He is remembered with abiding love by his devoted wife, Valerie, with whom he shared a remarkable partnership since their marriage on December 20, 1975. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Angela Grant, Michael Kropf, and Miguel Kropf, who each carry forward his legacy of kindness and integrity. A proud alumnus of the University of Southern California, Jose graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, a foundation that would inform his lifelong commitment to education and learning. Following his college years, Jose served his country with honor in the U.S. Army from 1971 to 1976, where he reached the rank of Sergeant and was stationed in Germany for two years. His exemplary service earned him the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. After his military service, Jose embarked on a fulfilling career as a teacher, dedicating 30 years to shaping young minds with wisdom and encouragement. His career began with a role as a second shift manager at Pann's in 1969, where he gained valuable skills and experiences that enriched his life and work. Jose was deeply committed to his community, volunteering for many years with both the United Way of Greater Los Angeles and Apla Health & Wellness. He found joy in gardening and working on engines, often sharing his knowledge and passion with others. His warm smile and quick wit were ever-present, lighting up any room he entered and bringing joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Jose's legacy is carried on by his treasured grandchildren, Aiden Grant, Hannah Grant, Addison Grant, and Lucas Miguel, who brought immense pride and happiness into his life. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their love and support during this difficult time. To honor Jose's memory, the family has requested that donations be made to organizations close to his heart, in lieu of flowers. A private ceremony will be held in accordance with his wishes. Jose's life was a testament to love, resilience, and generosity. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire all who knew him.
