It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Jose Rodrigues-Torres, a beloved soul whose light touched many during his time with us. Born on October 15, 2024, in the vibrant city of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Jose's journey on this earth concluded on August 4, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and profound generosity. A dedicated son to Marrissa Rodrigues-Torres and Jose Torres, Jose was known for his quick wit and warm smile, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. He had an extraordinary ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, a testament to the kindness and generosity that defined his life. Jose's early years saw him serving his country with honor in the United States Army from 1970 to 1974. Achieving the rank of Sergeant, he spent two years stationed in Germany. His meritorious service earned him the Army Commendation Medal, a reflection of his dedication and commitment to duty. Following his military service, Jose embarked on a successful 30-year career as a mechanical engineer at Ford Motor Company. Known for mentoring young engineers, he led the team that designed the 1998 transmission system, showcasing his brilliance and innovative spirit. He retired in 2005, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and leadership. Jose's departure was preceded by the loss of his cherished children, Alexi Torres, Alex Torres, and Robert Torres. His love for them endured through the years, a love that continues to be felt in the hearts of those he left behind. A service to celebrate Jose's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Allen Temple AME Church, located at 824 Leonard Street, Brooksville, FL. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a man who brought so much warmth and joy into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause close to Jose's heart, in honor of his memory. This organization, based in Jacksonville, FL, supports those who have given so much in service to our country. Though Jose's physical presence is no longer with us, the love, laughter, and kindness he shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him. He will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
