Despite the challenges he faced, including his battle with Alzheimer's and dementia, Jose remained a beacon of strength and resilience until the very end.
Jose's life was a testament to the power of love and commitment. For 40 years, he shared a beautiful marriage with Melba Ayala, his devoted wife and steadfast companion. Together, they built a family rooted in love and unity, raising ten children: Wanda Sanchez, Sharon Sanchez, Johanna Sanchez, Rafael Sanchez, Luis Sanchez, Jorge Sanchez, Johanny Sanchez, Emmanuel Sanchez, Ivanette Colon Flores, and Ivanelis Colon Vega. His legacy continues through his 36 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each a testament to his enduring influence and the love he imparted.

A man of diverse interests, Jose found joy in the discipline and artistry of kung-fu, often seen practicing or enthralled by the classic Bruce Lee movies. His passion for martial arts mirrored his approach to life—full of energy, grace, and an unyielding determination.
