Jose Hernandez

March 7, 1966 — September 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jose Hernandez, a devoted husband, father, and friend, on September 16, 2026. Jose was born on March 7, 1966, in Peoria, Illinois, to the late Julio and Maria Hernandez. Throughout his life, Jose exemplified strength, love, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of everyone he met. Jose's journey was marked by a deep love for his family and a passion for fishing. His strong and stubborn nature was matched only by his boundless love and generosity. He was a man who lived life on his own terms, and he left this world while engaged in an activity he truly loved. In 2003, Jose married the love of his life, Maureen, after a serendipitous meeting in his hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Jose embraced his role as a stepfather to Victoria Brooks, Justin Brooks, and Maria Adams, and he took great pride in being a grandfather to one grandchild. His family was his greatest treasure, and he dedicated his life to their happiness and well-being. Jose's career spanned 22 years at General Motors, where he was a respected and valued employee. His dedication to his work was evident, and he formed lasting friendships with colleagues who admired his work ethic and integrity. Preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jose leaves behind his beloved wife, Maureen, his cherished stepchildren, and a vast circle of close friends who will forever remember his infectious smile and zest for life. To honor Jose's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to celebrate his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in memory of Jose. Jose Hernandez will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the tranquility of the waters he so dearly cherished.
