In Loving Memory
Jonathan Lloyd Phillips
November 15, 1989 — May 13, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a sense of deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Jonathan Lloyd Phillips, a beloved son, father, partner, and friend. Born on November 15, 1989, in Los Angeles, California, Jonathan departed this world on May 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Jonathan was the cherished son of Lloyd Phillips Jr. and Sarah Ann Ware, who raised him amidst the vibrant community of Los Angeles, where he developed his enduring passion for sports, cooking, and the joy of connecting with others. A graduate of Gardena High School, Jonathan explored various interests and found his professional calling as a dedicated security officer. His career was a testament to his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of those around him.
His heart, however, was most fully expressed in his love for his family, especially his three precious children: Ja’niyah L. Phillips, Kilanie P. Phillips, and Jonathan L. Phillips. Jonathan's life was enriched by the laughter and energy of his children, and he took immense joy in coaching youth basketball, where he could share his enthusiasm for the game and impart valuable life lessons to the young athletes he mentored.
Jonathan's life was marked by his quick wit and warm smile, traits that endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him. Always armed with a joke to lighten any mood, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His kindness and generosity were boundless, and he touched countless lives with his genuine care and compassion.
Though his marriage to Kristy Lewis ended in divorce, they remained united in their dedication to their children. In recent years, Jonathan found love and companionship with his devoted life partner, Rodneysha Oliver, who stood by his side as a source of unwavering support and affection.
Jonathan's life was also enriched by the close bonds he shared with his surviving family members: Lasharon Hendreson, Jarice Ware, Jessica Dominick Thompson, Sydnee Phillips, and his special friends Anthony Stanford, Aaron Edwards, and Marvell Phillips. These relationships were a testament to the profound impact he had on those who knew him best.
Though Jonathan did not live to see grandchildren or great-grandchildren, his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the love he shared. As we remember Jonathan, we celebrate a man who was not only a loving father, son, and partner but also a beacon of joy and kindness in a world that is often in need of both.
A memorial service will be held to honor Jonathan's life and to celebrate the beautiful memories he leaves behind. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to join the family in remembering a remarkable man who brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jonathan's memory to a charity supporting youth sports, a cause close to his heart. As we bid farewell to Jonathan, let us carry his spirit forward, remembering his quick wit, warm smile, and boundless generosity. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
