Born on February 13, 1981, in Clintondale, New York, Jonathan was a beacon of light and love to all who knew him. His life was a tapestry of dedication, compassion, and unyielding commitment to his family, his students, and his community. Jonathan was the beloved son of Diane Lorraine Percoco and the late Robert Phillip Mandia. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert R. and Nicole Mandia, maternal grandparents, Joseph and Gloria Percoco, and his father, Robert Philip Mandia. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his surviving family members: his cherished mother, Diane Percoco; his proud son, Lieutenant Colonel Doctor Jeremy Joel, along with Jeremy's wife, Diana, and their child, Robbie Mandia; his loving sister, Jessica Mandia; his devoted Aunt Gloria Percoco and Uncle Joseph M.; his Aunt Prudance and cousins Joseph and Jessie Percoco, along with their families. Jonathan's academic journey was marked by brilliance and perseverance. A graduate of Highland High School in Highland, New York, he continued to excel academically, maintaining a perfect GPA at Dutchess Community College, where he earned an Associate in Science in Liberal Arts and Sciences - Childhood Education. His pursuit of knowledge led him to New Paltz State University of New York, where he achieved a Bachelor of Arts Degree Summa Cum Laude in Philosophy and History. His quest for education culminated with a Master's Degree in Social Studies and Special Education from the University of Hawaii. Jonathan's passion for education and his students was evident in his role as a Secondary High School Teacher at Waipahu High School in Oahu, Hawaii. He was deeply committed to shaping young minds and inspiring a love for learning in every student he encountered. Prior to his teaching career, Jonathan spent a decade serving his community at Pasanos Pizzeria and Restaurant in Ardonia, New York, where he was known for his warm smile and generous spirit. A man of many talents and interests, Jonathan was an active member of the Clintondale Friends Church as a child and a dedicated participant in the Hudson Valley Cub and Boy Scouts and the Ulster County 4H Program. He cultivated his love for music through the Suzuki Violin and Piano and shared his enthusiasm for sports with the Highland Youth Soccer Club. Jonathan's life will be celebrated in a private ceremony on September 15, 2026, where family and close friends will gather to honor his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in Jonathan's honor. Jonathan Joseph Mandia's legacy will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His unwavering dedication to education, his deep love for his family, and his kindness towards others will continue to inspire and guide us all. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
