Jon Owen Brewbaker, a beloved father, grandfather, and community servant, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 5, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on October 18, 1941, in the charming town of Roanoke, Virginia, Jon lived a life rich in love, dedication, and service.
Jon was a man whose heart was as expansive as his smile. Predeceased by his cherished wife, Jane Brewbaker, Jon's legacy of kindness and generosity lives on through his sons Joel, Jon, Jonathan, and Jonathan's wife, Keri, who reside in Roanoke and Rocky Mount, Virginia. His four grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in their every accomplishment.
A proud veteran, Jon served his country with honor in the Navy, where he learned the values of discipline and camaraderie that would guide him throughout his life. After his military service, Jon dedicated nearly four decades to the N&W Railroad, where he became known not only for his hard work but also for his unwavering integrity and the friendships he forged along the way.
Jon's commitment to his community was profound. For 20 years, he was a prominent and well-known member of the Buchanan Rescue Squad, serving as an EMT-C. His calm demeanor and quick thinking saved countless lives, and his colleagues remember him as a pillar of strength and reliability.
An avid reader, Jon found joy and solace in books, which offered him endless adventures and learning. Yet, it was his family who were his true passion. Jon's love for them was boundless, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand, putting their needs above his own.
In accordance with Jon's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor his life and bid him a peaceful farewell. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that donations be made in Jon's memory.
