It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the peaceful passing Johnny "Pops" Jones, a cherished father, grandfather, and family patriarch, on April 29, 2026. Johnny graced this world with his presence on March 9, 1935, in the heart of Mississippi, and was lovingly raised in St. Louis, Missouri, by his devoted grandmother. A proud torchbearer of his Creole and Cherokee heritage, Johnny carried the strength and dignity of his lineage throughout his remarkable life. Johnny was the beloved son of Jim and Lucille Jones, both of whom he now joins in eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Nellie Ann Jones, with whom he shared more than 27 years of deep companionship and love. In the silent embrace of eternity, Johnny is reunited with his parents, grandmother, and his dear siblings, brother Alex Jones, and sister Rose Green, along with her husband, Sam Green. Johnny's legacy is embodied in the hearts and lives of his large and loving family, who will continue to honor his memory. He was a devoted father to his children: Eldest Daughter Jeanette Lipscomb (husband Michael Lipscomb), son John Jones, daughter Sandra Welch (husband Michael Welch), which whom he had with their mother Ruby who also preceded him in life and twin daughters Nashay Jones and Nicole Taylor (husband Edward Taylor), and step daughter Dana McCastle (husband Greg McCastle) and stepson Durrell Sykes. His beloved daughter, Donna, also carries forward his light. Johnny's family tree flourishes with 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, each of whom filled his heart with profound pride and joy. Known affectionately as "Pops," Johnny was celebrated for his infectious laugh and endearing smile. He was the life of every gathering, a cold beer in hand, inviting all to share in the warmth of his company. His life was a testament to strength, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to family bonds—a legacy that will echo through the generations he helped nurture and shape. Though Johnny has departed from this earthly realm, his spirit and influence remain with us, an ever-present beacon guiding his family and friends. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered, cherished in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know and love him. In a special message from his family, we invite all to celebrate Johnny's life with love and joy, remembering the precious moments shared and the indelible impact he left on all who knew him and would like to give a special thanks to Ralph McKinley and his care giver Ms. Lucy for all their assistance in his final years. "Celebrate my Life Remember me with love and joy, Let gratitude fill your heart. Thankful for the time we had, Gone...yet not apart. If we measured life in moments, not in months or years, I lived a hundred lifetimes, Loved by all who hold me dear. I hope you'll find your smile, and generously speak my name. Share stories and my heart. Your love for life unchanged. Celebrate the life I lived, I will be watching from above. I am always with you, Sending you my light and love."
