Johnny Locklear
February 12, 1958 — March 23, 2026
Johnny Locklear, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, peacefully departed this world on March 23, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on April 14, 1958, in the close-knit community of Red Springs, North Carolina, Johnny's life was a testament to hard work, love, and unwavering dedication to his family and craft.
The beloved son of the late John and Merna Locklear, Johnny was raised with strong values and a deep sense of community. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lenny Locklear, who he now joins in eternal rest.
Johnny's journey began at Magnolia High School, from which he proudly graduated in 1976. His love for learning and building led him to further his education at Robeson Community College, where he earned an associate degree in 1992. These achievements laid the foundation for a remarkable career in construction, where he built homes across the Carolinas for nearly three decades. Johnny's work was not just about brick and mortar; it was about crafting spaces where families could create memories and futures.
In 2007, Johnny met the love of his life, Vicky, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that culminated in marriage in 2009. For 17 beautiful years, they nurtured a blended family, raising three daughters: Christy, Robin, and Rena Locklear, who were the pride and joy of his life. Johnny's legacy of love and kindness will continue through his four grandchildren, who will carry his spirit forward.
In addition to his grandchildren, Johnny was blessed with the joy of one great-grandchild, whose presence brought immense happiness and warmth to his life. His family was his greatest treasure, and he was theirs. Together, they shared countless moments of laughter, love, and learning.
Johnny's life will be celebrated on March 28, 2026, at 2:30 PM, at Old Oxendine Cemetery, located in Union Chapel, NC. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a man whose life was a beacon of love and dedication to all who knew him.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this time. In lieu of flowers, they ask that you hold your loved ones close and continue to share stories of Johnny's life and legacy. As they grieve, they find solace in the memories they shared and the indelible mark Johnny left on their hearts.
Forever in their hearts, Johnny Locklear's memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
