With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Johnny Lloyd Compton, who departed from us on February 17, 2026, at the age of 80. Johnny passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and devotion.
Born on October 26, 1945, in the close-knit community of San Marcos, Texas, Johnny was the cherished son of Lloyd and Elouis Compton. His upbringing was deeply rooted in the values of hard work and integrity, traits that he carried forward throughout his life. He was predeceased by his loving parents, who surely welcomed him home with open arms.
Johnny's early years were marked by a spirit of adventure and an eagerness to learn. He graduated from Waco High School and pursued higher education at the University of Houston. However, his dedication to serving his country led him to the United States Air Force, where he proudly served for over three years, earning the rank of Staff Sergeant. It was here that he developed a deep sense of camaraderie and patriotism that remained with him throughout his life.
In the tapestry of Johnny's life, one of the most vibrant threads was his enduring love for his wife, Sandy. Together, they shared over 50 years of marriage, a testament to their unwavering commitment and partnership. Their love story was one of mutual respect and joy, filled with laughter and cherished memories. Sandy, along with their beloved son, Jason, survives him, carrying forward Johnny's legacy of love and resilience.
After his military service, Johnny found his calling as an electrician, dedicating over 20 years to Butler Manufacturing in San Marcos, Texas. His work was marked by precision and dedication, earning the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
A man of deep faith, Johnny and Sandy were active members of the First Baptist Church in Wimberley. His faith was his compass, guiding him through life's trials and triumphs. He also took great pride in his involvement with Boy Scout Troop 127, where he mentored young minds, instilling in them the same values that shaped his own life.
Johnny found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in reading and spending time with his family. His warmth and friendliness were his hallmarks, and he was known to never meet a stranger. These qualities endeared him to all who crossed his path, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
A service celebrating Johnny's life will be held on March 13, 2026, at 9:45 AM at The Veterans Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Family, friends, and all whose lives Johnny touched are invited to gather and honor the remarkable man he was.
