With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Johnny Haines, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully on July 14, 2026, at the age of 73. Johnny was born on February 18, 1953, in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late John and Emily Haines. He was a man whose life was characterized by warmth, dedication, and a generous spirit, traits that touched all those fortunate enough to know him. Johnny was a proud graduate of Bonds Wilson High School, where he earned his diploma in 1965. He carried the lessons learned there throughout his life, applying them with diligence and integrity in both his personal and professional endeavors. Following high school, Johnny embarked on a distinguished career as a mechanical engineer with Ford Motors, where he dedicated 35 years of service before retiring in 2005. His colleagues remember him not only for his technical expertise and innovative mind but also for his unwavering kindness and mentorship. Family was the cornerstone of Johnny's life. He was a devoted father to his three children: Tamara Lloyd, Lamont Tayler, and Dominic Haines, and his love extended to his six cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Johnny was predeceased by his beloved parents, John and Emily Haines, but his spirit and legacy continue to live on through his family. Johnny's life was one of quiet strength and deep compassion. He had an infectious love for life, always quick with a smile and a helping hand. Whether he was spending time with his family, tinkering with a new invention, or enjoying the natural beauty of Charleston, Johnny did so with a full heart and an open mind. In keeping with Johnny's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held at North Area Funeral Home, located at 7113 Rivers Ave, North Charleston, SC. The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice in Johnny's memory, reflecting his commitment to helping others and making the world a better place. Johnny Haines was a man who lived his life with purpose and passion, leaving behind a legacy of love and devotion. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, and he will be profoundly missed.
