Johnny Chatman, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on June 10, 1973, in Fort Worth, Texas. He passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Johnny’s life was a testament to love, laughter, and the joy of family. From a young age, Johnny was surrounded by a large, loving family, being the youngest of 15 siblings. His parents, Carl and Violet Mae Chatman, instilled in him the values of kindness and compassion, which he carried throughout his life. Though he faced the loss of several family members, including his parents, brothers Jessie, Wayne, Chris, Bobby, sister Leona, and stepdaughter Emily Reynolds, Johnny remained a pillar of strength and love for those around him. Johnny married the love of his life, Dixie Jane Chatman, on March 21, 2020. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Granbury, Texas, where they spent most of their lives. Their home was filled with the sounds of laughter and music, as Johnny was known for his love of playing guitars, singing, and cracking jokes, often at the playful expense of Dixie. Johnny adored his granddaughter, Lovell, and cherished every moment spent with her. His family was his greatest pride, and he dedicated his life to their happiness. Johnny’s career as a cook in nursing home kitchens and rehabilitation centers demonstrated his nurturing spirit and dedication to caring for others. He was a man of faith, actively involved with the Palo Pinto Cowboy Church and Triple Cross Cowboy Church, where he found spiritual nourishment and community. In his leisure time, Johnny found joy in music, often playing his guitar and singing, filling the air with melodies that brought smiles to everyone around him. His infectious laughter and kind spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Johnny is survived by his devoted wife, Dixie Jane Chatman, his beloved children, Cierra and Nicholas, his cherished granddaughter, Lovell, and his siblings, Cherokee, Roger, Jimmy, Buster, Clifford, Stephen, Dolly, Rosa, Dusti, and Díane.
