It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Johnny Calvin McLaughlin, a beloved father, partner, grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on July 26, 2026, just two days shy of his 73rd birthday. Johnny was born on July 28, 1953, in Charleston, West Virginia, to the late Paris and Mary McLaughlin. He lived a life rich in love, hard work, and the joy of family and friends, leaving a legacy of cherished memories for all who knew him. Johnny was a dedicated and skilled worker, spending over 30 years working on oil rigs and as a mechanic. His passion for his job was evident in his unwavering commitment and expert craftsmanship. He took immense pride in his work, a testament to his incredible work ethic and dedication to every task he undertook. Outside of his career, Johnny found joy in simple pleasures. He loved spending time in his garage, tinkering with his ATV side-by-side until it purred to life. This hobby brought him great satisfaction and was often shared with his dear friend, "Fluff." Their camaraderie was a source of happiness and laughter in Johnny's life. Johnny's heart was filled with love for his soulmate, Garnet Davis, with whom he spent 19 wonderful years. Their partnership was a testament to true love and devotion, as they supported and cherished one another through life's trials and triumphs. Together, they moved mountains, finding strength and joy in each other's company. He leaves behind a family that he was immensely proud of, including his children Brandy McLaughlin of Procious, WV, Erica and "Whopper" Fox, and Mason McLaughlin of Fola, WV. Johnny's legacy continues through his five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his love of life, laughter, and determination. Though preceded in death by his parents and beloved sisters, Mary Chapman and Rita Kay, Johnny's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His warmth, kindness, and indomitable spirit touched all who crossed his path, and his memory will be cherished forever.
