In loving memory of Johnathan Mech, who passed away on April 14, 2026, at the age of 75 due to a heart attack. He graduated from Portland High School in 1969 and soon after, answered the call to serve his country with honor, spending seven years in the United States Army. His commitment to service was evident not only in his military years but also through his longstanding career and community involvement. In 1976, John married the love of his life, Carolyn, on January 21st. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey, moving to Maple Valley, Washington, where they nurtured a warm and loving home. Their family grew with the births of their beloved daughters, Samantha Nicole and Monica Mech. John was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment with his wife and daughters, instilling in them values of love, strength, and compassion. For 27 years, John dedicated himself to the Highline School District as a school bus driver, focusing on the special needs children who held a special place in his heart. He was more than just a driver; he was a guardian and a friend, treating each student as if they were his own child. He brought joy and laughter to his role, famously dressing up as Santa Claus to surprise his students before winter break, spreading warmth and cheer that left lasting memories. John's commitment to community shone through his 12-year membership at the Black Diamond Gun Club, where he shared his passion for shooting with fellow enthusiasts. His love for classic cars was well-known, especially his cherished 1969 Mach 1 Mustang, which he proudly showcased at car shows, sharing stories and memories with fellow car aficionados. Known for his generous spirit, John was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His infectious smile and the genuine warmth he exuded made everyone feel special and loved. John truly embodied the essence of a kind-hearted soul, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to have known him. John is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, and his cherished daughter, Samantha Nicole Mech. Though he is predeceased by his wife Carolyn and daughters Samantha and Monica Mech, their love and memories continue to be a guiding light for the family. As we celebrate Johnathan Mech's life, we remember a man of profound kindness, unwavering dedication, and boundless love. His legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
