In Loving Memory

Johnathan Edwards
February 17, 1960 — April 3, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Johnathan Edwards, who departed this world on April 3, 2026, at the age of 66, surrounded by his loving family and cherished friends. Born on February 17, 1960, in Utica, Mississippi, Johnathan was a beacon of warmth, humor, and kindness whose life touched all who knew him.
Johnathan was the beloved son of Ann and Michael Edwards, who instilled in him the values of love, integrity, and resilience. He was preceded in death by his dear sister, Janet Maxine Coleman, whose loss he deeply felt throughout his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Alicia Edwards, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since 1988. Together, they raised two remarkable sons, Jordan Edwards and Robert Edwards, who carry forward their father's legacy of love and laughter. Johnathan was also the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, who were the light of his life and the keepers of his countless stories and jokes.
A dedicated and honorable man, Johnathan served his country with distinction in the United States military from 1980 to 1988. His sense of duty and commitment to others was evident not only in his military service but also in his professional life. After his military career, he worked at the Ford Motor Company for 12 years before retiring in 2007, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and camaraderie that his colleagues fondly remember.
Johnathan's faith was an integral part of his life. As an active member of the Free Baptist Church, he was a guiding light to many, offering support and solace to those in need. His sense of community extended beyond the church walls, as he was always ready with a quick wit and a warm smile to brighten any room he entered. Known for his humor, Johnathan had the uncanny ability to lift spirits and lighten the mood with a well-timed joke or a heartfelt story.
Outside his professional and military life, Johnathan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid fisherman, he spent countless hours by the water, finding peace and reflection in nature's embrace. His love for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms and flourishing plants that adorned his home, each one a testament to his patience and nurturing spirit.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Johnathan Edwards will be held on April 11, 2026, at Lakeover Memorial Funeral Home, located at 1525 Beasley Rd., Jackson, MS. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Johnathan are invited to join in remembering a life well-lived and a man well-loved.
In remembering Johnathan, we celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to family and friends. His legacy will forever be cherished by those who knew him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. May he rest in peace, knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
