John Wesley Moten, Sr.

JOHN WESLEY MOTEN, SR. was born June 27, 1931 in Sledge, Mississippi to the late Cliff and Ozella Moten. He accepted Christ at an early age in Mississippi and after moving to Detroit, Michigan he joined Love Temple of Faith Church in 1959. He served in the United States Army from February 17, 1951 to February 22, 1955 in the Korean War and was honorably discharged. During his commission in the Army he was an operant of the infamous B-52 Bomber. As a civilian, he was a Skilled Electrician. For twenty-five years he was employed as a Hi-Lo driver fir Borin Builders Supply Company, Inc. On August 14, 1951 he was united in holy Matrimony to Stella Mae Shaw. John departed this life on Saturday, March 14, 1992. He leaves to cherish his memory: his brother Chico Moten, two sons, John Wesley Moten Jr. and Avila Moten; four daughters, Arma Jean Moten, Gloria Jean Moten-Lewis, Serena Morris, and Alisha Denise Moten; two uncles, Tom Henry Anderson and Monroe Calvin Moten of Chicago Illinois; four dear aunts, Odessy White of Los Angeles, California, Lula Bell Walker, Dorothy Moten, and Evangelist Jose Mae Williams, all of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Davion Rochaun, Phoebe Jeanelle, Timothy Maurice, Donovan Maurice, Brittany Danielle, Robert Earl III, Rochaun Deontrey and Sable Eliss; his ne[hew Terrance, a loyal pet, his dog Slade, and a host of other relatives and friends. Joy, like the sunrise , will come in the morning; sorrow and shine shall cease, Moments are passing, then life everlasting, filled with eternal peace.
