Born on February 7, 1939, in Plymouth, Illinois, John was the son of Walter and Lola Normandin. He lived a life of love, service, and dedication to both his family and community. John's journey was marked by a deep commitment to faith, service, and family. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Social Science from Western Illinois University, he served his country with honor. John was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean War before being honorably discharged after four years. He continued his service for an additional two years in the National Guard. On June 23, 1967, John married the love of his life, Diana Lynn Normandin. Together they built a beautiful family and shared a partnership that spanned nearly six decades. John was the proud father of three children: Rebekah, David, and Jonathan, and a grandfather to six grandchildren: Elijah, Angeleah, Spencer, Brielle, Drew, and Ryden. John dedicated nearly 40 years of his career to the US Postal Service, where his colleagues and community members knew him as a man of integrity and hard work. Outside of his profession, his passions included a lifelong love of music, which he shared through his involvement in his church choir. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and relationships. A die-hard fan of the Padres, John rarely missed a game for over 60 years, cheering on his team with unwavering enthusiasm. He was an avid reader with a particular interest in the life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln and the Revolutionary War. John's dedication to his community extended beyond his career and hobbies. He was an active participant in the Lemon Grove Senior Center, where he volunteered for many years. His contributions were recognized and appreciated by all who came to know him. Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lola Normandin, his brother Richard Allan Normandin, and his sisters Anna Mae Normandin Watson and Sue Normandin Sumpter, John leaves behind his wife Diana, his children Rebekah, David and Jonathan Normandin, grandchildren Elijah, Angeleah, Spencer, Brielle, Drew and Ryden, and his sister, Mary Normandin McLean.
