John Vuk Sr.
November 15, 1932 — May 25, 2026
In the peaceful embrace of his loved ones, John Vuk Sr. departed this world on May 25, 2026, at the Windsor-Essex Hospice. Born on November 15, 1932, in the quaint village of Hotiza, Slovenia, John lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. His life was a testament to the power of family, hard work, and the simple joys of life.
John was the cherished son of the late Janez and Katarina Vuk and was predeceased by his beloved siblings Steve (late Carol), Martin (Pavla), and Mihael. Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 69 years, Katarina Vuk (née Stelcer), whom he married on February 23, 1957, in Austria. Their marriage was not just a union but a beautiful love story that spanned almost seven decades.
Together, they raised three loving children: Stan (Ruth Anne), John, and Cindy (Tony), who will forever hold his teachings and love in their hearts. John's legacy continues through his grandchildren Melissa (Chad), Joseph, Victoria (Phillip), Matthew (Paige), Johnny, Brianna (Alex), and his great-grandchild, Aleksander. He also leaves behind his loving sisters Annie (late Martin) and Marija (Marjan), along with many nieces and nephews, and his caring daughter-in-law, Rhonda Vuk.
John's career was marked by dedication and skill, as he spent 28 devoted years working for Kelsey Hayes Canada. As a crane operator and machine repairman, John was known for his hard-working nature and his ability to fix anything with his hands. His commitment to his work was matched only by his devotion to his family and community.
A proud member of the Windsor Slovenian Cultural Club 'Zvon and St. Francis of Assisi Church, John embraced his heritage and faith wholeheartedly. He had a passion for life that was evident in his many hobbies, from gardening and making wine to his love for birds and playing the accordion. John found joy in grafting fruit trees and, most importantly, in spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
John was a man of character, known for his humor, warmth, and devotion. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, a jokester who found delight in the company of friends and family, and a man whose hands were always busy with projects that reflected his love and care.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and volunteers at Windsor-Essex Hospice, Amy's Helping Hand, the VON Nurses, and Dr. Stephen Rukavina for their exceptional care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Windsor-Essex Hospice in John's honor.
John's life was a tapestry of love, commitment, and a legacy that will be cherished forever. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, a testament to a life well lived and a soul deeply cherished.
