April 8, 1953 — April 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John "Vince" MacDonald, who left this world peacefully at home on April 4, 2026, just shy of his 73rd birthday. Born on April 8, 1953, in Brockville, Ontario, Vince was known to many as a loving partner, dedicated father, cherished grandfather, loyal brother, and a friend who could always bring a smile with his sharp wit and affectionate sarcasm. Vince was the beloved son of the late Alfred and Shirley MacDonald (née Morrow) and is predeceased by his cherished granddaughter, Brianna MacDonald. He is survived by his devoted partner of 32 years, Beverley Kelly, who was his steadfast companion and the love of his life. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and a shared appreciation for the great outdoors. A proud and loving father, Vince leaves behind his sons, Jeff and Jonathon (Amanda), and his treasured stepdaughters, Melinda Smith and Crystal Kelly. His legacy continues through his seven grandchildren—Kateesha, Tameria, Lydia-Lyn, Kendra, Savannah, Austin-Lyn—and the memory of Brianna, who remains forever in our hearts. Vince's life was enriched by the love and camaraderie of his siblings: Valerie Brown (David), Verney "Jr." MacDonald (Marilyn), Gordon MacDonald (Donna), Les MacDonald (Cindy), Deborah Bennett (Graham "Ben"), Kim MacDonald (Julian), Craig MacDonald (Leslie), Peter MacDonald (Debbie), and Paul MacDonald. He was also a beloved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews who adored his humor and kindness. Throughout his life, Vince wore many hats in his career, reflecting his diverse talents and enduring work ethic. From crafting fine cabinets and office furniture to working with microcomputer electronics and eventually serving as a retail store clerk, Vince's professional journey was as varied as it was fulfilling. His colleagues and customers alike appreciated not only his expertise but also his rare gift for making every interaction memorable with his quick wit and good-natured humor. An avid outdoorsman, Vince found peace and joy in nature, whether he was hunting, fishing, canoeing, or simply spending time under the open sky. His love for the natural world was infectious, inspiring all who knew him to appreciate the simple beauty of life. Vince's greatest qualities—his compassion, humor, and unwavering loyalty—left an indelible impression on everyone he met. He had a unique ability to lighten the mood with his playful sarcasm, a family trait he carried with pride, and he was known to be a great compassionate man who was always there when needed. In honoring Vince's wishes, cremation will take place on Monday, April 6, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to commemorate a life well-lived and to share stories and memories of our dear Vince. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and personal support workers who provided comfort and care during Vince's final weeks. Your kindness and dedication made a difficult time a little more bearable, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
