It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John R. Thomas Jr. who departed this world on July 7, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with illness. Born on April 11, 1979, in Baltimore, Maryland, John was a cherished son, father, brother, and friend, whose life was a testament to resilience, love, and unwavering dedication to family and community. John was the beloved son of John Thomas Sr. and the late Deana Thomas. He grew up in a close-knit family, sharing his childhood with his brothers, Zachary and Christopher Thomas. John's mother and brother, along with his uncles Jerry, Edward, and Timothy Thomas, and John Railey, as well as his grandparents Rob and Janice Herd and Nathan and Ernestine Thomas, preceded him in death. His mentor, Rose Sovine, also played an influential role in shaping the compassionate and skilled man he became. A proud alumnus of Patterson High School, John discovered his passion for the trades early on, mastering skills in paint and carpentry. He was known not only for his exceptional craftsmanship but also for his willingness to lend a helping hand, leaving his mark on countless projects and lives throughout his community. In his personal life, John's later years were enriched by the companionship of Billie, who was not only a loving partner but also a source of profound support and happiness. Together, they shared countless memories and cherished moments that will forever be held dear. John leaves behind a loving family that includes his father, John Thomas Sr., his brother Christopher, his uncles Mike Likes, aunts Tionie Doran-Likes, Pat Railey, Tina Woods, and Alice Thomas, as well as close friends Michael L., Tammie J., and Billie. Each of them will carry forward John's memory and the lessons of love, loyalty, and generosity John Thomas will be remembered for his indomitable spirit, his warm smile, and the deep love he held for those around him. Though his presence will be deeply missed, his legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to know him.
