In Loving Memory of John T. Stein It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved John T. Stein, who left this world surrounded by friends and the gentle whispers of nature on May 8, 2026, at his cherished home. Born on October 6, 1950, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, John lived a life full of love, warmth, and generosity that left an indelible mark on all who knew him. John was the dearly loved son of William A. Stein and Doris E. Stein, both of whom predeceased him. He is also reunited in peace with his brother Richard W. Stein, and his beloved wife, Barbara K. Stein, whose memory he cherished deeply. John's legacy of kindness and compassion lives on in the hearts of his surviving family: his sister, Barbara J. Hill, and her husband Pete, and their children, his niece and nephews, Lincoln Hill, Mary Jo Hill, and Jeffery Hill. His close friend, Elizabeth C. Johnson, also mourns his passing and celebrates the many years of friendship they shared. John served his country with honor in the Army, a chapter of his life he held with immense pride. Following his service, he dedicated his career to American Airlines as a Computer Programmer, where he was admired for his dedication and technical prowess. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a man of many passions. An avid coin collector, he found joy in the history and stories each piece held. His love for artistry shone through his practice of calligraphy, a hobby that brought beauty to every stroke. A sports enthusiast, John relished in the excitement of pro football and NASCAR, always rooting passionately for his favorite teams. John's love for food was as expansive as his heart. He was a frequent visitor to Mom's Diner in Owasso and Gibby's in Claremore, always eager to share a meal with friends and family. His affinity for sweet treats often led him to City Bites bakery in OKC, where he indulged in chocolate-drizzled peanut butter cookies, bringing back dozens to share. John was known for his infectious smile and unwavering commitment to ensuring the well-being of those around him. His home was a haven of love and generosity, traits that he shared freely and abundantly. A service to honor and celebrate John's life will be held on June 1, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Spring Town Cemetery, located in Spring Town, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to the ASPCA of Tulsa, reflecting his deep love and respect for all living creatures. Donations can be made at https://www.tulsaspca.org/. As we say goodbye to John, we remember a man whose life was a testament to kindness, love, and an unyielding spirit that touched all who knew him. May his memory continue to inspire us and may he rest in eternal peace, forever cherished in our hearts.
