In Loving Memory

John Stuart MacLeod
April 18, 1940 — April 7, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of John Stuart MacLeod. A cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, John passed away peacefully on April 7, 2026, just shy of his 86th birthday. Born on April 18, 1940, in Regina, Saskatchewan, he was the beloved son of Donald and Margery MacLeod.
John was a man whose life was a testament to the values he cherished most: dignity, integrity, and morality. These principles guided him throughout his career and personal life. A tireless advocate for workers' rights, John dedicated much of his professional life to the labor movement. He served with distinction as the Business Manager of I.B.E.W. Local 2038 for multiple terms and was elected vice-president of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour (SFL). His leadership extended to a two-year term as president of the SFL, and he was the respected president of the Saskatchewan Building and Construction Trades Council for two decades. John's influence reached far beyond these roles as he lent his expertise to several labor and government boards, including the Labour Relations Board and the Provincial Apprenticeship Board.
John's dedication to his work was rivaled only by his love for his family. He was married to his beloved Kathryn for 45 wonderful years until her passing in 2005. Together, they built a family that continues to carry forward their legacy of love and strength. John is survived by his adoring children: Daniel, Donna, Darin (Leslie), and Dean. His legacy extends through his grandchildren Travis Julé, Jennillee Johns (Jason), Tamara Julé-Ganne (Brandon), Chelsea Julé, Cassandra Julé, Megan MacLeod, Michael MacLeod, Andrew MacLeod (Kelcey), Josephine MacLeod, and Skye MacLeod, and his great-grandchildren: Jazelle, Jakobe, Scotland, and Kamala.
John's family always came first, and his ferocious protection and unwavering support for them knew no bounds. Whether it was through his passionate advocacy or the simple joys of family gatherings, his love was a constant, steadfast force in their lives.
John's love for life extended beyond family and work. His favorite pastimes included indulging in movies, particularly Westerns and historical war films. He was a season ticket holder for the Saskatchewan Roughriders for many years, showcasing his fervent support for the team. An avid golfer, John also cherished his weekly lunches at Memories, where he could be found surrounded by friends and laughter.
John is predeceased by his loving wife Kathryn, his brother Roderick, parents-in-law John and Emma Klein, brothers-in-law Bill, Grant, Gerry, and Garry, and sisters-in-law Lorraine, Eleanor, and Lillian. He leaves behind his cherished sisters Margaret, Grace (Jerry), and Patricia, as well as his brother-in-law Bill, John, sister-in-law Rose, and numerous nephews and nieces who all held a special place in his heart.
A service to celebrate John's remarkable life will be held on April 10, 2026, at a location to be determined. Details regarding the service address will be shared in due course, and all who knew John are warmly invited to join in honoring his memory.
John Stuart MacLeod's life was one of purpose, passion, and profound love. He leaves behind a legacy of compassion and strength that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting his lifelong commitment to making the world a better place.
Rest in peace, John. Your legacy will forever be a guiding light to those you leave behind.
