It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of John Stuart MacLeod, who left this world peacefully on April 7, 2026, just shy of his 86th birthday. Born on April 18, 1940, in the welcoming city of Regina, Saskatchewan, John was a beacon of integrity, compassion, and dedication throughout his lifetime. John was the cherished son of Donald and Julia MacLeod, who instilled in him the values of hard work and empathy, which he carried throughout his life. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathryn, his brother Roderick, his parents-in-law John and Emma Klein, and several brothers and sisters-in-law. Though he faced the sorrow of these losses, John’s life was continually enriched by the love and support of his surviving family. His legacy lives on through his children, Daniel, Donna, Darin (Leslie), and Dean MacLeod, who embody his spirit, strength, and dedication to family. John was a proud grandfather to Travis Julé, Jennillee Johns (Jason), Tamara Julé-Ganne (Brandon), Chelsea Julé, Cassandra Julé, Megan MacLeod, Michael MacLeod, Andrew MacLeod (Kelcey), Josephine MacLeod, and Skye MacLeod, and a loving great-grandfather to Jazelle, Jakobe, Scotland, and Kamala. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Margaret, Grace (Jerry), and Patricia, his brothers-in-law Bill and John, sister-in-law Rose, and a host of nieces and nephews who adored him. John’s life was marked by a profound commitment to the rights of workers, a passion he pursued tirelessly throughout his career. As the Business Manager of I.B.E.W. Local 2038, he fought vigorously for the dignity and rights of workers, and his leadership extended to his roles as vice-president and president of the Saskatchewan Federation of Labour. John’s influence was felt across Saskatchewan, where he served on numerous boards, championing the causes of fairness and integrity with unwavering resolve. Beyond his professional achievements, John was known for his love of life—whether it was found in the joy of a family gathering, the thrill of a Roughriders game, or the quiet satisfaction of a round of golf. He took immense pleasure in the simple joys, from a good Western or historical war movie to a leisurely lunch with friends at Memories. John lived a life characterized by unwavering principles and a fierce protection of those he loved. He was a man of remarkable integrity, whose moral compass guided him through every endeavor. His family was his pride and joy, and his love and dedication to them knew no bounds. A celebration of John's life will be held on April 10, 2026, with details of the service location and address to be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to be made to a charity of choice that reflects John’s lifelong commitment to justice and community. John Stuart MacLeod leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering dedication to his family and community. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will continue to guide those he loved.
