John Smith
January 1, 1950 – July 1, 2026
John Smith, a beacon of warmth and joy, peacefully departed this world on July 1, 2026, at his beloved home. Born in the vibrant Bronx, New York City, on January 1, 1950, John was the cherished son of Joseph and Mary Smith. He spent his formative years surrounded by the love of his close-knit family, which included his late siblings, Robert and Jane.
John's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and service. In 1976, he began his lifelong journey with his devoted wife, Sarah, when they exchanged vows at St. James Cathedral Basilica. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support, marking 50 years of marriage.
After graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1973, John pursued higher education at New York State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1977. Shortly thereafter, he answered the call to serve his country as a Corporal in the United States Army from 1977 to 1981, a role he fulfilled with honor and pride.
John's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Smith and Sons Financial, where he served as CEO, leaving a legacy of integrity and success. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church, where his faith was a guiding force throughout his life.
John's greatest joy came from his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah; son, John Jr. (Amy) Smith; daughter, Melisa (David) Jones; grandson, Jacob (Emily) Smith; granddaughter, Maddison (Michael) Williams; great-grandson, Liam; and great-granddaughter, Mia. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them, whether it was fishing, hiking, or simply enjoying the great outdoors together.
Those who knew John will forever remember his radiant smile that could light up any room. His kindness, generosity, and unwavering positivity left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to cross his path.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor John's life, where his family will celebrate the remarkable man he was. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of choice, reflecting John's spirit of giving.
John Smith will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends for generations to come.
