April 24, 1940 — July 10, 2026

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, John Sides, who departed this world peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 10th, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 24th, 1940, in Denver City, Texas, John was a cherished member of the community from his earliest days. John was predeceased by his devoted wife, Mary Sides, whose memory he cherished deeply. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. John leaves behind a legacy of love through his children, Marty Huber and Bill Sides, who carry forward his values and spirit. He was a proud and doting grandfather to five grandchildren. John was a graduate of Denver City High School. He worked on the Olan Cox Ranch and was employed by David Bruton for many years in the oilfield company. He was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church, Denver City, and attended regularly. John was a passionate supporter of local sports, and his enthusiasm for the Denver City Mustangs and Fillies was legendary. Rarely missing a sporting event or school activity, he was a familiar face on the sidelines, running chains and yard markers at football games, keeping books or scores at basketball games, and assisting at track meets. His presence was a symbol of community spirit and unwavering support for the youth of Denver City. A service to celebrate John's life will be held on July 13th, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church, located at 210 W 4th St, Denver City, TX 79323. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by John are invited to join in this celebration of a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the First Methodist Church or the Senior Citizens Center, honoring John's generous spirit and commitment to the community he loved.
