Born on December 14, 1965, in St. Petersburg, Florida, John was the son of Alan Thomas and Carole Pfaff. He is predeceased by his parents, his stepfather Donald Pfaff, and his sister Tracy Pfaff. John leaves behind his only son Stephen Thomas and his wife Sarah, as well as his siblings Mike Thomas, Diana (Pfaff) Holmes, Stacy (Pfaff) Kilpatrick, and Donald Pfaff. John graduated from the American Diesel and Automotive College in 1989, a testament to his passion for mechanics. His career as a diesel mechanic was marked by skill and dedication, reflecting his commitment to hard work and precision. Beyond his professional life, John he found solace in music, enjoying the sounds of John Petty, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tracy Chapman, and The Doors; a passion in which he was able to share with his son.
