John Ray Green, a man of remarkable courage and unwavering kindness, passed away peacefully at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 2, 2026, at the age of 78. His passing follows a valiant battle with cancer, a struggle he faced with the grace and determination that defined his entire life. Born on April 30, 1948, in Tulsa, John was the cherished son of Robert and Lillian Green. He grew up in a loving family, sharing his childhood with his brother, Tom Green, and sister, Lillie. John attended Nathan Hale High School, where he graduated in 1965, before pursuing higher education at Tulsa University. There, he earned a bachelor's degree in 1969, laying the foundation for a successful career in accounting. John proudly served his country as a reservist in the United States Army from 1969 to 1975. His sense of duty and service extended beyond his military career as he went on to work as an accountant for the Skelly and Getty Oil Company. Throughout his professional life, John was admired for his integrity, diligence, and dedication. John's life was enriched by the love of his family. He is survived by his beloved sister, Lillie, and his devoted stepdaughters, Teresa Talley and her husband Jeff, and Tammy Hanneman. John's legacy lives on through his eight grandchildren, who will forever hold dear the memories of laughter, lessons, and love shared with their grandfather. In addition to his professional and familial accomplishments, John was a man who valued community and compassion. His warm spirit touched the lives of many, and his absence will be profoundly felt by those who were fortunate enough to know him. A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor John's life, reflecting his quiet strength and the intimate bonds he cherished with his loved ones. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Cancer Research Center, continuing John's commitment to fighting the disease that he faced with such bravery. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Oklahoma Cancer Treatment Research Center in Tulsa, whose care and support were a great comfort to John and his family during his illness. John Ray Green's life was a testament to resilience, love, and generosity. As we remember him, we celebrate a life well-lived and a man deeply loved.
