John Randolph Beattie

John Randolph Beattie, beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2026, at the age of 90. John was born on February 12, 1936, in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania, to Ulysses and Beaulah Beattie. Some of his fondest childhood memories were of spending his summers on his uncle's farm in Virginia, where he developed an appreciation for the simple pleasures of family, hard work, and time spent outdoors. At the age of 18, John proudly joined the United States Air Force. He served his country for 20 years, retiring as an Aircraft Maintenance Superintendent. His military career was an important part of his life and reflected the dedication, discipline, and commitment that he carried with him throughout the years. In 1960, John married his beloved wife, Betty, and together they shared 55 years of marriage until her passing in 2017. Their life together was filled with family, love, and memories that continue to live on through their children and grandchildren. Following his retirement from the Air Force, John continued his education while working and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Sacramento State University. He later worked for Easterday Janitorial Supply Company as a Sales Manager until his retirement. After retiring from Easterday, John did what he loved most of all — fish. For John, fishing wasn't simply a hobby; it was a way of life. During the spring, summer, and fall months, he could often be found fishing on the Delta three days a week. He loved being on the water, but perhaps what he loved even more was sharing that passion with the people he cared about. Every year, John brought friends and family together for a big fish fry, creating memories that will be cherished for generations. When he wasn't fishing, John enjoyed reading, particularly about religion, race, and history. He also had a deep appreciation for blues and jazz music. He was passionate about being a service to others and delivered Meals on Wheels to the elderly in his community. John was a loving father, grandfather, big brother, and uncle. He especially enjoyed fishing with his grandchildren and sharing the traditions and stories that made family so important to him. And for those lucky enough to sit around his table, there was always the possibility of enjoying one of John's family favorites— "Beef on Toast." John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty, and his sister, Janice Henley. He leaves behind his siblings, Judith Beattie Williams and George Beattie; his children, Stephanie (Dwayne) and John Jr. (Jen); and his grandchildren, Christian, Taylor, Savannah, and Miles. He also leaves behind loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, and countless family friends by love. The family extends a heartfelt and special thank you to John's independent caregivers and Suncrest Hospice for their loving care, compassion, and support. Though he is deeply missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that the stories, traditions, and memories he created will continue to be shared for generations to come.
