It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of John R Lane Jr, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 12, 2026, at the age of 74. Born on December 27, 1951, in Guilford County, John was the beloved son of John and Betty Lane. John's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering dedication to his family. He grew up with strong values and a deep sense of community, which he carried with him throughout his life. On a beautiful October day in 1988, John married the love of his life, Susan. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years filled with adventures, unwavering support, and countless memories that will forever be cherished. John is survived by his loving wife, Susan, who stood by his side through life's joys and challenges. He leaves behind his cherished children: daughter Jennifer; daughter Crystal and her spouse Cristian; and son Ryan, along with his fiancée Aimeé. His legacy is further carried on by his five adoring grandchildren: Allison, Wyatt, Lily, Hunter, and Hannah, who brought immense joy and pride to his life. John was preceded in death by his infant daughter Penny and son Brian, who remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved them. Throughout his life, John was known for his kindness, wisdom, and gentle spirit. He was a man of few words but profound impact, always ready with a listening ear and sage advice. His dedication to his family was matched only by his love for the outdoors, where he found solace and inspiration. Whether it was hiking through the woods or fishing by the lake, John felt most at home surrounded by nature's beauty. A service to celebrate John's life will be held on July 16, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Southeast Church of Nazarene, located at 4511 SE School Road, Greensboro, NC 27408. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a man who touched so many. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in John's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and compassion for others.
