John Plunkett

It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of John Plunkett, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. John left us peacefully on July 26, 2026, just three days shy of his 77th birthday. Born on July 29, 1949, in Barstow, California, John was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew him. John was the cherished husband of Molly, his partner in life for 55 wonderful years. They were married on November 21, 1970, in Hesperia, California, where they nurtured a loving family and made their home. Together, they raised three remarkable children: Jason and his wife Kristen, Justin and his wife Jen, and Emily and her husband Anthony. John's legacy is carried on by his three adored grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. A proud graduate of Barstow High School in 1967, John dedicated himself to a fulfilling career with the Santa Fe Railroad. For 30 years, he worked diligently as a supervisor, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues until his retirement in 1999. John's family was his pride and joy, and he was a devoted brother to his siblings, Bill and James. He was predeceased by his dear sister Virginia Saskai, whom he held close in his heart throughout his life. Beyond his professional achievements, John was a man of many interests and passions. He cherished the simple pleasures of life, from tending to his garden to sharing stories with friends and family. His kindness, humor, and unwavering support touched the lives of everyone he met. A celebration of John's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at New Life Fellowship, located at 134 Main Street, Barstow, CA 92311. Family, friends, and all who knew John are invited to join in honoring his memory and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. John Plunkett's life was a testament to love, dedication, and resilience. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know and love him.
