June 21, 1997 — March 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved John Newton III, who departed from this world on March 31, 2026, at the age of 28. Born on June 21, 1997, in Sacramento, California, John was a beacon of light and warmth to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
From a young age, John exhibited a zest for life that was infectious. Growing up in the vibrant community of north Sacramento, he attended several local schools, including Dyer Kelly, Thomas Edison, and Encina High School. Each institution was a stepping stone in his journey, where he not only gathered knowledge but also formed lasting friendships and connections that he cherished deeply.
John's love for basketball was well known, often seen shooting hoops at local courts, where his laughter echoed and his sportsmanship shone. His passion for travel took him on adventures far and wide, broadening his horizons and enriching his life with diverse experiences and memories. It was through these passions that John taught us the importance of living life fully and embracing every moment with enthusiasm.
A devoted father, John’s daughters, Janiah “Lee” Newton and Elliana Desire Newton, were the center of his universe. His warm spirit was never more evident than in the love and care he showed them. John had an extraordinary ability to connect with people from all walks of life, and this gift, combined with his unwavering sense of humor and radiant smile, left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
John is survived by his cherished daughters, Janiah and Elliana, who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and joy. He leaves behind his loving parents, John Newton Jr. and Shannon Renee Williams, who nurtured and supported him throughout his life. His sister, Donyae McLaurin, and brother, Loman Deberry, shared countless cherished memories with him, as did his nieces, Kelis Deberry and Kelise Smith. John's partner, Desire Scott, stood by him in love and companionship, while his stepfather, James, played a significant role in his life.
John's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his spirit will continue to inspire us. In his memory, we are reminded to embrace life with open hearts and to cherish the laughter and joy that he so freely shared.
As we bid farewell to John Newton III, we hold close the words from his family: "Forever in our hearts." He may have left this earthly realm, but his essence, his laughter, and his love remain with us always.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on a date to be announced, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory and the remarkable life he lived. Until then, we find solace in the profound impact he had on our lives and the beautiful legacy he leaves behind.
