John was born on November 30, 1955, in the welcoming embrace of West Des Moines, Iowa, where he spent the majority of his life surrounded by the warmth of family and friends. John was the cherished son of the late Albert Patrick and Mary Frances Cahalan, who instilled in him the values of kindness, hard work, and a love for music. These values became the cornerstone of his life, guiding him in both his personal and professional endeavors. For many years, John shared a life filled with love and companionship with his wife, Susan Carol Hirsch. Together, they built a home imbued with laughter and music, nurturing their son, Joshua Michael Cahalan. Joshua, now just 11 years old, carries forward his father's legacy of compassion and creativity. Though he has no grandchildren to carry on his name, John's spirit lives on in the heart of his son, who was the light of his life. John was a dedicated and respected Warehouse Manager at The Sun Valley Door Company. His colleagues remember him as a man of integrity and diligence, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. His commitment to excellence and his warm demeanor left a lasting impression on those who had the privilege of working alongside him. Beyond his professional life, John was a man of many talents and passions. A wonderful guitar player, he could often be found strumming melodies that filled his home with joy and brought smiles to those around him. His love for music was a gift he shared freely, bringing people together and creating cherished memories that will linger in the hearts of his loved ones. In his later years, John relocated to Arizona, where he spent his final days. Though his time there was brief, he found peace and solace in the tranquil beauty of the desert landscapes. Family and friends will gather to celebrate John's life on July 23, 2002, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church in Payson, Arizona. The service will be held at 511 S St Phillips St, where we will honor and remember a life well-lived, a soul that touched so many, and a man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. John M Cahalan's departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, music, and kindness will endure. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
