In the soft embrace of a spring morning on May 13, 2026, John Leonard Jasper passed peacefully from this world, surrounded by sunlight and the loving presence of his children, Nichole, Heidi, and Jon. Born on April 9, 1940, in Shakopee, Minnesota, John was a man whose life was a testament to the beauty of simplicity, the power of integrity, and the warmth of familial love.
John was the cherished son of Frank and Adelaide Jasper, who instilled in him the values of dedication and kindness. A devoted student, John graduated from DeLaSalle High School in 1958 as a proud member of the National Honor Society, an early indication of his scholarship, leadership, service, and character. He later graduated from St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, which propelled him into a successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. John’s professional journey saw him transition from international accounting to becoming a Controller and eventually the Chief Financial Officer for a prestigious printing company. His career, marked by integrity and diligence, was a reflection of his unwavering commitment to excellence.
In 1966, John answered the call to serve his country, joining the Army National Guard. Over the course of six years, he ascended to the rank of Specialist E-4, earning an honorable discharge—a testament to his honest and faithful service.
John shared 30 beautiful years of marriage with his former wife, Carol Vernier (Jasper), with whom he built a loving family with their three children: Nichole, Heidi, and Jon. Though Carol and their grandson Riley predeceased John, their memories lived on in his heart, providing strength and solace.
John’s life was enriched by the laughter and joy of his grandchildren, Vincent (Sarah), Bailey, and Natalie, and his great-grandchild, Scarlett, who brought sparkle to his eyes and warmth to his soul. His legacy of love and wisdom is one that will be cherished by his surviving children and all who knew him.
An avid volunteer, John dedicated his time to the Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska for the Ryder Cup, the 3M PGA Championships in the Twin Cities, and offered his expertise in auditing for nonprofits. His contributions to these organizations were a reflection of his generous spirit and desire to give back to the community.
John found joy in the simple pleasures of life: the thrill of a sleek car, the tranquility of nature, the laughter shared over a game of cards, and the comfort of a good book. His fondness for California, love for thunderstorms, and the perfect cup of coffee were just a few of the many facets of his vibrant personality. Yet, above all else, the time spent with family was what John treasured most.
Known for his quick wit, kindness, and generosity, John was a man of open-mindedness and intelligence. He was devoted to his family and friends, a true gentleman whose authenticity and patience left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to have been part of his life.
John Leonard Jasper was a beacon of light, whose life was lived with grace and dignity. As we celebrate his journey, we find comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with those he loved dearly. His legacy will continue to inspire us, reminding us to live with love, laughter, and integrity.
