It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of John Junious, who departed this world peacefully on June 12, 2026, in a New York hospital. Born on June 23, 1937, in the close-knit town of Summerton, South Carolina, John lived a life rich with love, dedication, and unwavering kindness. John was the beloved son of Elijah and Minnie Junious, whose nurturing guidance paved the way for a life filled with integrity and purpose. He was predeceased by his cherished parents, as well as his dear siblings: Elijah Junious, Annie Livingston, Benjamin Junious, Betty, Aether Thomas Junious, Louis Junious, and Viola Shaw. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life. John’s educational journey began at St. Phillips Elementary School and concluded with his graduation from St. Paul’s High School. Full of ambition and dreams, he relocated to New York City to live with his sister, determined to carve out a future filled with promise and opportunity. In New York, John found his calling and dedicated 33 years of his professional life as a delivery man for a large bagel company. His work ethic was unparalleled, and he was known for his reliability and the warmth of his smile, which brightened the days of all who crossed his path. The compass of John’s heart always pointed toward family. On June 23, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart, the love of his life, with whom he shared 59 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love, and the joy of raising five wonderful children. John's enduring love and devotion to his family were the cornerstones of his existence. John is survived by his beloved wife and his children: Brenda Junious, Shonet Junious, Charlie Junious, and Greg Jinious. His legacy lives on in them, each carrying forward the values and love he so generously imparted. As we remember John Junious, we celebrate a life marked by generosity, humility, and a profound love for those around him. His gentle spirit and unwavering devotion to his family and community will forever be etched in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. A service to honor John’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and pay tribute to a man whose life was a testament to love and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of choice in John’s memory, ensuring that his legacy of compassion and goodwill continues to touch lives. May John rest in peace, cradled in the arms of those who have gone before him, and may we find solace in the beautiful memories that will forever remain in our hearts.
