John Joe Jackson was born on September 26, 1947, in Chester, South Carolina, to parents Willie Glen Jackson and Mary Wilmore Jackson. He attended South Mecklenburg High School and was employed at Catawba Charlab for 31 years until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie G. Jackson and Mary W. Jackson; brothers William Jackson, Elliott Jackson (Joyce), William Glenn, Paul Jackson (Nellie), and Johnny Jackson; and sister Minnie Lee W.Carruthers. He leaves to cherish his loving wife of 44 years, Lula H. Jackson; one sister, Helen Jackson Pharr; children Jacqueline Jackson, Pamela Boyd (Kenny), and Rodney Hill; grandchildren Jederian Jackson, Jaqueaz Jackson, Keneisha Boyd, Adam Gates, and Kylie Hill; great-grandchildren Caleb Boyd, Journi Jackson, and Phoenix Jackson; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

“Joe, it’s time. You can leave all your troubles behind. There’s a place I prepared for you in Heaven, And the angels will welcome you inside. Your legacy and your love will live forever, And so will the times we spent together. You were a piece of gold within our treasure, And the strength you carried was beyond measure. Your presence could light up any room. Your dance moves were tight, smooth, and cool. And when Granny’s tears come falling, And the pain feels hard to bear, Touch her heart, Lord, so she can feel That your love is still right there.
