July 11, 1946 — October 6, 2026

John, beloved son and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep on October 6, 2026. Born on July 11, 1946, in Elmhurst, Illinois, John was the devoted son of Charles and Julie Trout, who predeceased him. He is survived by his sister, Diane Trout-Oertel of St. Paul, Minnesota. John's early years were spent in Forest Park and later in Glen Ellyn, where he graduated from Glenbard High School in 1964. From 1968 to 1974, John served honorably in the United States Army Reserves. A long career in customer service saw John working for various companies, ultimately retiring from ComEd, a unit of Exelon Corporation. His friendliness, infectious laugh, and warm smile endeared him to colleagues and customers alike. John was an avid sports fan and was especially knowledgeable about golf, which he enjoyed playing in his younger years. He also was an accomplished bowler. A memorial service to celebrate John's life will be held on October 13, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Moss Funeral Home located at 209 South Batavia Avenue in Batavia. Friends and family are invited to gather there beginning at 10:00 a.m. to share their memories of John prior to the service. Lunch at Schmidt's Towne Tap in Elburn will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Stroke Organization. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staffs at Life Care Associates and Bria Nursing Home for their care during the past year. John's presence will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
