John H. Bellrose, Jr

John H. Bellrose, Jr., a cherished husband, devoted stepfather, and beloved brother, passed away on August 1, 2026. Born on June 10, 1953, in Huron, Ohio, John was the loving son of the late John H. Bellrose, Sr. and Mary Bellrose. Throughout his life, John embodied a spirit of warmth and compassion that touched everyone he met. John's journey began in the quiet town of Huron, where he attended early education before pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mercid, California. His commitment to serving others was exemplified through his honorable service in the United States Air Force, followed by a dedicated tenure in the U.S. Army. After his honorable discharge, John transitioned to a successful career as a truck driver, a role he fulfilled with dedication and pride for two decades until his retirement at the age of 62. John was a man of faith, holding a non-denominational belief and frequently sharing his love for the Lord and the scriptures with those around him. His faith was a guiding force in his life, providing strength and direction. On December 22, 2012, John married the love of his life, Edna Duit, at the Peoria, Oklahoma Baptist Church. Their union was a testament to their deep and abiding love for one another. John is survived by his devoted wife, Edna; his caring sisters, Sonya and Marilyn; and his cherished stepdaughter, Deandra, along with her husband, Daniel. John had 5 step grandchildren. Elizabeth, Faith/Patrick, Jaxson and Johnny. Many nieces and nephews. Although he did not have great-grandchildren, his legacy will live on through the lives he touched and the family he adored. John's life was enriched by his love for sports, particularly Ohio State football. His enthusiasm for the game was contagious, and his spirited enjoyment of those games was a joy to behold. Beyond sports, John's greatest joy came from connecting with people. He had a gift for conversation and a genuine desire to help those in need, often going out of his way to offer his assistance. The Bellrose family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to NHC for their compassionate care and for always sharing a laugh with John, as well as to Derfelt Funeral for their patience and support during this difficult time. In memory of John, the family suggests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. John's life was a testament to love, service, and unwavering kindness, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
