John Gyde

John Gyde, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed member of the banking community, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on October 22, 1942, in Grayling, Michigan, John was the son of Gus and Ruth Gyde.
In his early years, John embarked on a promising career in the banking industry, beginning at Roscommon State Bank in Houghton Lake, MI. His dedication and skill in the field led to a significant career move in 1981, when he and his family relocated to Springfield, Oregon. There, John served as the Chief Credit Officer at Pacific Continental Bank, where he earned respect and from his colleagues in the banking community for his integrity and expertise.
Beyond his professional achievements, John was a man of diverse interests and talents. He was a published author and had a passion for collecting antique arms, particularly Remington.22 Rimfire Rifles. This interest not only connected him with fellow enthusiasts but also allowed him to share his knowledge of these historic pieces.
John was a man who enjoy, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed these adventures with his MI and OR friends.
He is survived by his wife Mary of 65 years, children Ann, Beth, Amelia and Gus. 6 grandchildren, David, Emilee, Max, Cloe, Nicholas and Wesley. 1 great grandchild, Graham.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at Pete Moore Hospice House, whose compassionate care provided comfort to John in his final days. They are also grateful to those who contributed to creating such a serene and supportive environment, ensuring John's transition was as peaceful as possible. Mary was with him when he passed.
